Error with -mfpmath=387 switch on Mac OSX Intel CPU

I get this error when I try to compile the C program using -mfpmath=387
switch 
error: the '387' unit is not supported with this instruction set
Here is the CPU info
Intel i5-5257U
This is on Mac OSX
