What does ``-quiet'' option do?

Hello,

I was investigating the verbose output of GCC when I use the ``-v''
option. In the compilation phase, I have seen an option named
``-quiet''. I haven't seen anything about this option in the manpage,
in the [online manpage][1] or on the web. Am I missing something? My
GCC version is 4.8.4.
