This may not be an option.  There's not a lot of internal space on my
device (given the porting I've been doing) and unfortunately Android
inexplicably prohibits writes to the external SD card without root
access.  My device is rooted, however there's no such thing as sudo on
Android, which would allow easily running make as root.
