Is it really possible to install gcc using prerequisites are installed in non standard directories.

But since most people don't have any software except GCC using those
support libraries it is a waste of time and effort to install them
separately, and it's better to just follow the instructions at
http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/InstallingGCC and get on with doing more
interesting things.
