removing gcc

Sorry I forgot to say that when I go to the root directory (/opt/gcc-4.1.2) and type "make uninstall", I receive 

the uninstall target is not supported in this tree


I ran ./configure && make from there. So why should I receive that message?

If I install a gcc/g++ from source (./configure && make && make install), how can I remove it and all libc files related to this installation?
