gcc-4.6.1 and 3.2.2

    I have an old compiler 3.2.2 that compiles in C and C++. When I try to 
compile 4.6.1 I can only get C. C++ is not built correctly for some reason. 
I know this is an old compiler and I'm trying to upgrade. Any hints on what 
might be wrong and how I can correct it?
