error during installation gcc-3.4.6

apologize in advanced I hope this place is right for this question.
I try to install gcc-3.4.6 in ubuntu 10.10 but I've got below error

In function ‘open’,

declared with attribute error: open with O_CREAT in second argument
needs 3 arguments

make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2

I did
./configure
make

and the error is appear after several minutes.
