The '-print-search-dirs' switch seen via the '--help' switch, please
try :

    $BUILD/gcc/xgcc --help
and
    $BUILD/gcc/xgcc -print-search-dirs

will show the search paths, in "programs", where it will search for
'as' and 'ld' when it will need them!
