Build GCC with make -j N?

Hello,

is is possible to build a GCC cross compiler with 'make -j N'?  I tried to add
'--enable-serial-configure' to the top level configure but still have problems.
 Some parts for sub processes are not available in time and this breaks the
hole configure phase.
