Please visit http://gcc.gnu.org/  You will find links on the right
hand side taking you to detailed instructions on downloading and
building GCC.  Quick instructions for a native build (assuming you
have downloaded 4.5 into the directory ~/gcc45):

$ cd $HOME/gcc45
$ mkdir bld && cd bld
$ ../gcc/configure --prefix=$HOME/gcc45/inst && make all install

The gcc binaries will be available at $HOME/gcc45/inst/bin
