Hi folks -

I'm having some trouble building a cross compiler for a x86_64/Linux target from my Mac OS X 10.6 host.

I am trying to build using binutils 2.19 and GCC 4.4.1, in order to emulate an OpenSUSE 11.3 environment.

While trying to build BUILD_ROOT/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/32/libgcc, I get the following error:

/bin/sh ../../../../gcc-4.4.1/libgcc/../mkinstalldirs 32

/opt/cross/opensuse/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/ld: crti.o: No such file: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

In order to resolve this, I copy the *32 bit* versions of this file (and others it's missing) target environment (i.e., /usr/lib, /usr/lib) to PREFIX/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/lib/, and the compile proceeds.

Next, I get the following error from BUILD_ROOT/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/libgcc:

If I attempt to resolve this by placing the *64 bit* versions of libc.so.6, crti.o, crtn.o into PREFIX/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/lib, I get the previous error again.

If I attempt to resolve this by placing the *32 bit* versions into BUILD_ROOT/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/32/libgcc and the *64 bit* versions into BUILD_ROOT/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/libgcc, both are resolved and the compile proceeds until the configure process of libgomp, where it complains about missing the same files.

Is there some obvious way to resolve this that I am missing?

thanks,
/-Will
