gcc: unrecognized option '-rdynamic'

I am trying to build a debug-able version ffmpeg-0.5 with gcc (GCC) 4.3.0. What do I need to do to fix gcc so I can use this flag?

System:

IRIX64 warhol 6.5 07010238 IP35
