Using Sun GCCFSS and GNU ld

Hi 

I downloaded and installed Sun GCC for Sun Sparc (GCCFSS) and then have
been using Sun ld as linker. But I have a requirement wherein I should
use GNU ld. So I downloaded binutils 2.18 and compiled using gccfss and
Sun ld. After which, I tried to use gnu ld and get the following warning
and error :

/usr/local/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value
