-msoft-float /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lfloat

Hi guys , i am trying to compile a few programs on my debian etch arm
using -msoft-float , but i always get:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lfloat
Could anyone lead me where i can find this library ? Or what should i
change to make this work ?

# gcc --version
