powerpc-ibm-aix5.2.0.0 bootstrap failure

Build failures are routine when using the current SVN version.  That's
the price of using the current development version: it changes very
quickly, and bugs appear and disappear.  Normally somebody will fix a
bootstrap failure like this in a day or two.
