invalid lvalue in assignment

Hello list,

(If this is the wrong list, please tell.)

I am getting the compiler message 'invalid lvalue in assignment' and don't 
know where to find some documentation when this is "thrown". (gcc 4.1.2 
suse).

I cannot find an error in the source which I tried to compile.

If I understand the msg right, the compiler complains that the code tries to 
assign a value to something that is not an lvalue!?
