When a built-in function is supported on your architecture, it will
be compiled directly, and will not result in an external reference.
Some built-in functions are always supported. Some are only supported
directly if the architecture supports them. Some have a fallback in
libgcc.a, which means that the C library does not need to provide a
version.
If you have a question about a specific built-in function, please ask
that question.
