g77 size of variable too large

478 * 303 * 215 * 8 * 4 bytes = 996457920 bytes ~ 1 Gbyte.

You have two such arrays (phi, phio) and phic, which is only slightly 
smaller.

So ~ 3 Gbyte of arrays on a 32-bit machine.  That's not going to work.

My advise: By an AMD64 or a Apple G5.
