make and addprefix

This may be a bit of a stupid question, but are you sure that you're
using GNU make and that it's at least as recent as the documentation you
were reading?

Hey,

Not sure what the %exec is for.  Just following what's already in most
of the
make files.  It just seems to execute what comes after it as if it were
a system
command and it displays the command itself.
