install on mac os X

Hi,

Can anyone give tell me the steps I need to take to install gcc on mac
os X?  I know the gnu website has install directions, but the extended
details they provide have only confused me.  I know a standard install
is pretty simple: unzip the files, issue the appropriate configure and
make commands, etc.  An explanation along those lines would be very
much appreciated.  Or a link to one.
