Cross compiling problem - i686 Linux to PowerPC - HELP

Host: i686-pc-linux-gnu (Red Hat 8.0)
Target: powerpc-linux
binutils: 2.9.1
gcc: 2.8.1
newlib: 1.8.2

I'm trying to build a cross-compiler for powerpc. I am
using the "build-cross.sh" script which I found in the
GCC FAQ. I always get the same error with make:

I can't understand this message. What I am doing
wrong?
