problem building gcc 2.6.3 on RedHat 8

Dear helper,

Sorry for potentially silly question .

I got this message that "ld: cannot open crt0.o No such file or directory",when I tried to compile gcc-2.6.3 in my OS of redhat8.0,in which  the new gcc is 3.2 .

I want to preduce an a.out format executable in my pc of P4.I have been working on this question for a few weeks ,and I am in trouble now.

What should I do ?
