Error while compiling gcc 3.2

Dear all,
I am trying to compile gcc 3.2 for my system (Linux Pentium).
After configuring and during the compilation I obtain the following message:

checking for thread model used by GCC... posix
checking for exception model to use... configure: error: unable to detect exception model
make: *** [configure-target-libstdc++-v3] Error 1

Does anyone know what is happening?
