Detecting the 'deprecated' attribute and -Wno-system-headers

Hi Ben,

__GNUC__ for the major, and __GNUC_MINOR__ for the minor.

I don't know if there is a -wno-XXXX that disables the compiler message in
question.  (I wish there was too, for that one and all others individually.)

I don't have GCC 3.0.0 ... I jumped from GCC 2.95 to GCC 3.1.  Thought I'd
avoid the teething pains of 3.x.
