IIRC, the changes on the C++ name mangling scheme for the successive
3.x releases are minor. This means that lots of C++ code will link
even when you mix object files produced by different
versions. However, the name mangling scheme is only one part of the
C++ ABI specification. It is a good thing to re-compile the entire C++
source base every time you upgrade to a version that modifies the C++
ABI, irrespectively of linking issues.
