gcc-2.9x->gcc 3.2 migration questions

1) What happened to fstreambase::attach()?  Perhaps it is not part of
the ISO standard and that's why it was eliminated, but does anyone out
there have it implemented on top of 3.2?  I tried to rig something using
stdio_filebuf but could not quote replicate the exact behavior.

2) What happened to probuf?  Does anyone have something that replicates
the behavior?

3) Is there any document that summarizes all the features of gcc-2.96
that were deimplemented in gcc-3.2?
