VA_OPEN unresolved error

The most likely cause of this error is that your bootstrap compiler is
finding the wrong version of <stdarg.h>.  This is an installation
problem - moving discussion to gcc-help.  (error messages preserved
below for reference)

You are not using make bootstrap; why?
