gcc-2.95.2 Macro Backslash problem with Cygwin

Dear List,

We are currently developing with gcc-2.95.2 under a Cygwin environment
and are encountering preprocessing problems with macros that span
multiple lines with the backslash character.

We know that this is a problem with the version of gcc (After reading a
previous post on the gnu-gcc-bug list (
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-bugs/2000-03/msg00223.html )) but are tied
down to this version & development environment and cannot reasonably
change any time soon.

Are there any known work-arounds available that will facilitate the
compilation of code written under Linux to compile correctly under our
Cygwin environment?

Thanks in advance,
Peter Blair.
