compiler flags for x86-64?

Hi gcc guys!

I'm doing a review of an Opteron system running Linux and I would like to 
know what optimizations are in GCC 3.2, and what compiler flags I should use 
for the X86-64 architecture when building code.

If anyone can point me to some FAQ's or some knowledgeable people working 
with this aspect of GCC, that would be great.
