_GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_

HI !

 compiling a littl cpp module with 2.95.3 works fine - with gcc-3.2 I get
 a "unresolved symbol _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_" so I need to provide this as
 a exported symbol in my module but I don't know what that symbol is or 
 where to find docs that would explain what this is and how it can be 
 provided. 

 any hints on docs/urls where I could find details on what this is about ??
