GCC 3.1 on alpha suse 7.1

Hi,

I'm having some problems building the first phase of GCC 3.1 on a alpha ev45 running suse7.1.

I've updated the binutils. After this exacted the gcc3.1.tar.gz to a sourcedir and in a separate tree created a builddir and configured it there. That part works fine, after i tried "make bootstrap" (tried make -lean too) and it went for a good hour and a half until the following appeared...

/gccbuild/alpha_unknown-linux-gnu/libstdc++-v3/include/cwchar:187:'wscanf' not declared

make[4] *** [globals.lo] Error 1

The errors after this I assume just relate to this one as the build fails. I have no programming experience and have no idea whats going on. Would anyone be able to assist me?
