Compiling with libc5

I'm trying to compile libdetect with the libc5 libraries for inclusion on
a floppy. Could someone help me with the following:
1) Do I need a special gcc to compile a program linked against libc5?
(libc5 compiled gcc?)
2) Do I need to add more than the following options to compile a program
with libc5?
-nostdinc
-I/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/include
-I/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2/include
-b i486-linuxlibc5
(When I try I get configure errors: 'ld: cannot open crtbegin.o: No such
file or directory'. Added -L/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/lib/ has no effect.)
3) Do I need a special kernel or gcc includes
(/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2/include) to use gcc to compile
programs against libc5?
Any help is appreciated.
