crt1.o file corruption on Solaris7

Hi,

While compiling  c++ programs using gcc 3.0.3, I get "multiple definition"
errors while linking crt1.o. Upon inspection, I found that the crt1.o file
had grown
 in size. After restoring the file (from the original package),
things worked perfectly for sometime. After that, the crt1.o file again
increased in size. I'm using GNU ld 2.11.2 on SunOS 5.7 for SPARC.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be ?
