I have looked through the online Gnu manual, but have been unable to find a description of the FORTRAN "open" statement. Specifically I am looking for the syntax to open a file as "READONLY". I have tried "mode='readonly' " and "action='readonly" and neither is accepted by the g77 compiler. Can you help?
