I am trying to build a version of GCC 3.0.1 to cross compile
to a MIPS embedded system from a Linux i386 Environment
(RedHat 7.1). Using binutils-2.11.2, which compile fine, I get
the error below. I search the news groups seems to be a common
thread about the soft link to ld but it does not seem to apply here.
Any help would be great, also a pointer to a pre built set of binaries
would be of great help also.
TIA

checking whether errno must be declared... yes
checking whether the C compiler
(/home/gentijo/temp/gcc-3.0.1/gcc/xgcc
-B/home/gentijo/temp/gcc-3.0.1/gcc/
-B/opt/cross/mips/bin/ -B/opt/cross/mips/lib/
-isystem /opt/cross/mips/include -g -O2 ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem:
C compiler cannot create executables.
make: *** [configure-target-libiberty] Error 1
