gcc-3.0.1 and arm7-elf compiling

Hello,
since a few days I try to build a cross-compiler for arm-7-elf: on a 
i686-linux system
I use: 
gcc-3.0.1
binutils-2.11.2
newlib-1.9.0

As that all takes some time I would like to know if this should work at least.
Did anybody succeed?
