g++ unrecognized option for -R

hi 
i'm using egcs , 
version info:

Reading specs from 
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i386-unknown-freebsdelf4.2/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release)

i'd like to use shared libraries with -R option , 
but i got the error like this:
g++: unrecognized option `-R/home/want/lib'

when i using the compiled so file , the shared lib
not found error occur , 

(i've set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=:/home/want/lib in my profile )

what should i do?
