annoying message when compiling but not linking

[Deno, Emerson]

I have gcc 2.95.2 on a solaris 2.5.1 box
and i am happy as a clam
however whenever i compile with the -c option (to avoid linking)
i get the following message
cpp: -lang-c++: linker input file unused since linking not done
i hvae looked everywhere in the docs and i cannot find a way to turn this
message off
is it possible?
