The best suggestion is: don't even try.  GCC 3.0 still doesn't fully
support sparcv9/sparc64 nor -mcpu=ultrasparc.  CVS snapshots
(mainline, not development snapshots still taken off the 3.0 branch)
should contain the changes needed for complete support of ultrasparc,
but they were unfortunately considered too pervasive and risky for the
3.0 release.
