Is it possible?

Hi ,

Is it possible to compile the code of lowerr version
gcc code, with higher version compiler. My problem is
i hav linux 7.0 system, which hav 2.96 compiler. It is
giving problesm with Pthreads.
I want to install 2.95.3 on my system. i tried doing
this without any success. 
Is it possible to do so ? please give me a way..
