Well it seems there are 3 more or less official gcc ports to HP-UX 11
available: 

1. A gcc 2.95.3 depot file whis can be found at the "HP-UX Porting center"
mirror sites ( http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/install/binaries.html ). This
one showed the described behaviour (my last mail).

2. gcc 2.9 tar file which can be downloaded from the "HP developers
resource" web site
( http://devresource.hp.com/OpenSource/Tools/gcc/gcc.html )

3. Redhat GnuPro which also can be found on the HP developers resource page.
This one I did not yet try. From your sig I assume you have sth. to do with
it?

Perhaps you might comment on these 3 versions?

BTW the problems I had on compiling turned out to be flaws in the respective
include files/configure scripts (e.g. for gmake or gcc 3.0) (at least in the
HPUX11 environment).

In gmake there were some #ifdefs selecting different include files depending
on operating system. However at a later point the once avoided include file
was nevertheless included implicitly thereby causing a conflict.

The configure script for gcc3.0 fails when trying to determine max length
for commandline arguments (it runs into a "memory low" condition). Again
this shouldn't be due to gcc 2.95.3.
