gcc2.95.3 on solaris 2.6

I installed a pre-compiled gcc2.95.3 as well as a binutils2.11.2 on my 
sun box, and they seem not to work properly. For example, the glib and 
gtk+ library got compiled just fine, but almost every example that comes 
with gtk+ died with a seg fault. However, with a version of pre-compiled 
glib/gtk+, those example get compiled and run just fine. It appears to me 
a shared libraries problem. I am not a hacker, and have little idea about 
how things are going inside gcc. Could somebody help me out?
Don't tel me that I have to compile a gcc meself, I don't have the SUN 
tools.
