help needed: gcc 3.0 mips cross compilor problem

Dear Sir,

I downloaded binutils-2.11.2.tar.zip and gcc-3.0.tar.zip and am
trying to build a cross compilor for my mips embedded target.
The building of binutils-2.11.2 was successful.  However, when I
build gcc 3.0 cross compilor, it failed.  The configure command is:

../build-gcc/configure --target=mips --host=i686-pc-cygwin
--enable-languages=c,c++ -v

make all install

The error message is:

xgcc: installation problems, cannot exec 'mips-tfile': no such file or
directory

Can anyone help on these?  I tried gcc-2.95.3 and gcc-3.0, the result are
the same.
