Problem Compiling Gcc3.0

Lately I encountered a strange
problem compiling gcc3.0...

I've downloaded the latest stable version,
ran ./configure und make bootstrap, but
somewhere in the middle of compilation my pc
suddenly reboots. This is where I thought that
something with my hardware isn't quite right, but
when I tried again it quitted at the same spot.
For this I've used kernel 2.4.4 and gave it
another try with kernel 2.4.3 and voila: it
didn't reboot but gave me an error message
like: Compiler got signal 11.

Has anyone got an idea about that ?
My configuration is:
P3-450 under SusE Linux 7.1 / Kernel 2.4.4/2.4.3
Gcc V2.95.2
