Gcc Build Problem

I am trying to 
install gcc on a Sun Sparc machine running Solaris 2.6. I have already installed 
GNU's make under /usr/local. When I run the command  
"/usr/local/bin/make  bootstrap"  I get the following 
message.
 
    make: *** No rule to make 
target `bootstrap'. Stop.
  Any idea what the problem is?
