What's there in the few lines around this one?

This is very suspect.  Has this GCC source tree ever been on a
MS-Windows machine?  It looks like it's got carriage-returns before
line-feeds.  GCC 2.95.2 wouldn't work well in this case.  It's fixed
in development versions of GCC.
