Hi,

Toon Moene is the best person to answer your question. But I can tell
you two things:
1- Gcc3.1 (due for April) will not have this limitation.
2- If you can manage to build a new copy of the compiler, you can try
applying to the G77 sources this patch, which removes that limitation
and is not that invasive:
