You got the wrong mailing list. This one is about GCC; the GNU linker
is part of GNU binutils, a separate project.

AFAIK, `.org' sets offsets from the beginning of the containing
sections, not absolute addresses. You'll probably be better off using
separate sections for each absolute address you want, then using a
linker script to set the absolute address of each section.

Probably because there's some initialization code that takes up a few
bytes.
