gcc 2.95.2 32/64 bit compilation

I have recently compiled two versions of gcc 2.95.2 , the first on a 32-bit
architecture Sun Sparcstation 20, the second on a 64-bit architecture Sun
Ultra 10. I then turned the installed versions over to our developers to

They report that, on the Ultra 10, the sizes of int, long, void* and char*
variables are all 4 bytes (ie 32 bit). A search of the Net turned up the
information that "there are 64-bit options for MIPS but not Sparc".

I have a couple of questions

1) I configured the compilers on each machine changing only one option to
the configure script ie --prefix=/opt/gcc-2.95.2-nnbit (where nn = 32 or
64). All the rest of the options were GNU defaults. Did I miss a "--64bit"
option in the configure step?

2) The only reference to a 64-bit gcc we could find hinted at an
"experimental version". Is such a version available for download?

Any pointers you can give would be gratefully received.
