gprof?

Greetings! 

I'm trying to track down the most recent gprof sources.  gprof 
was part of binutils, which is now EOL'd, with pieces of it 
either being superceded by pieces of the newer gcc (egcs) or 
migrated into the gcc build.  I'm not seeing gprof being installed
as part of the new gcc builds, nor do I see source for it.  
www.gnu.org seems to point towards gprof being in binutils, 
which seems to imply gprof never was forked out of binutils 
and maintained or developed subsequently.  Is this the case?
